Déjà reporté deux fois, le procès de l'opposant rwandais Sylvain Sibomana dont l'ouverture était attendu mercredi, a une nouvelle fois été repoussé, apprend-on auprès de son parti non encore agréé par les autorités rwandaises, les Forces démocratiques pour le changement (FDU). 

Arrêté le 25 mars dernier, Sibomana est secrétaire général des FDU, dont la présidente Victoire Ingabire comparaît actuellement en appel après avoir été condamnée à huit ans de prison en première instance pour « conspiration » et « négation du génocide des Tutsi » de 1994. « Comme pour l'audience manquée du 2 avril, la prison n'a pas transféré M. Sibomana au tribunal et le procès a été ajourné au 5 juin », écrivent les FDU dans un communiqué, dénonçant « une manœuvre destinée à maintenir l'accusé en prison ». Le report a été confirmé par des militants des droits de l'homme présents mercredi au tribunal de Karongi (ouest) saisi de l'affaire. Sibomana est détenu avec un autre membre de ce parti non encore officiellement reconnu. « Depuis leur mise en détention, ils ont régulièrement fait l'objet de traitements inhumains et dégradants, tels que des confinements dans des cachots, des violences corporelles et des privations de vivres, en dépit des certificats médicaux recommandant un régime alimentaire », accuse le parti de Mme Ingabire. « De plus, les autorités pénitentiaires ont pris la décision, le 10 mai 2013, d'aggraver davantage les conditions de détention en refusant à Sylvain Sibomana le droit de s'approvisionner en vivre dans la cantine située à l'intérieur de la prison », poursuit le communiqué en français. Les autorités pénitentiaires rwandaises ont toujours rejeté ces accusations.
