Two and a half years before his constitutional two seven-year terms
come to an end, President Paul Kagame says Rwanda must be prepared to
move on without him.

"Even if Kagame stayed in 2017, there would be a time when he would
have to go, and we must make sure that Rwanda goes beyond one
individual," he said.
"I think the tragedy Rwanda has gone through has been a kind of a
silver lining," he said.

Bottom of the pit

"It has energised people to think about getting out of this kind of
situation. It is like you've sunk to the bottom of the pit and the
only thing you think about is how to get out of there."

He is popular among many of his countrymen and has since dropped the
military fatigues he wore when he led the Rwandan Patriotic Front in
ending the genocide.
