In Bayanga, Sangha province, southwest Central African Republic (CAR)
on the Cameroonian and Congo borders, the Central African Network of
Journalists for Human Rights on 21 June reported the presence of
Central African Armed Forces (Forces Armées Centrafricaines: FACA) and
gendarmerie.

The number of FACA forces was unconfirmed; however, they were reported
to have deployed to an existing base in Bayanga. According to the FACA
forces' sergeant, Tombet Massoua, they had been involved in
negotiations between ex-Séléka and anti-Balaka militia members, as
well as securing the Mbomadjoko border crossing with Cameroon. Before
the March 2013 coup that overthrew President François Bozizé, the FACA
was approximately 5,000 strong, with an additional 1,990 gendarmerie.
