Edgar Lungu, président zambien et président de l'organe chargé de la politique, de la défense et de la sécurité au sein de la Communauté de développement d'Afrique australe (SADC), est revenu sur ses propos concernant le recomptage des voix suite aux contestations nées de la publication des résultats de la présidentielle du 30 décembre.

« A cet égard, Son excellence M. Edgar Chagwa Lungu souhaite que toutes les parties puissent s'engager vers un dialogue qui reconnaît toutes les voies légales fournies par la constitution (…). Toute demande d'un recomptage ou toutes propositions stipulant des irrégularités électorales devraient être réservées aux procédures purement légales et souveraines de la RDC », dans un communiqué signé par Joseph Malanji, ministre zambien des Affaires étrangères.

Le dimanche 13 janvier dernier, Edgard Lungu suggérait un recomptage des bulletins.

« Ayant pris note des doutes sérieux émis par l'Église catholique romaine, qui avait déployé plus de 40 000 observateurs, mais aussi par la coalition Lamuka et par d'autres observateurs concernant les résultats du scrutin en RDC, la SADC estime qu'un recomptage permettrait de rassurer les gagnants et les perdants », disait-il dans un communiqué.
