African's body identified as Rwandan

Mandya: The African, whose body was found in the backwaters of
Krishnarajasagara reservoir a week ago, has been identified as
Tuguramana Eliphahal, a citizen of Rwanda.

Eliphahal, who was doing his final-year BSc in Brindavan College in
Bangalore, reportedly visited Mysore and other tourist places with
three friends. At KRS Reservoir, Eliphahal talked about visiting the
backwaters of the reservoir and went there alone. His friends returned
to Bangalore.

Police said the friends thought Eliphal would return to Bangalore
after visiting the reservoir. But when they couldn't find him in
Bangalore and heard the news of a foreigner's body found in KRS, they
informed Bangalore police who passed on the information to local
police. It was then confirmed that it was Eliphahal's body.

The Rwandan high commissioner Ernest Rwamucyo, accompanied by the
Rwandan Bangalore consul Mohan Suresh, visited the reservoir where
Eliphahal's body was found and KR hospital where an autopsy on the
body was done. He spoke with police officers and doctors and asked
them about the cause of death. He collected the investigation
documents, including the autopsy report.

Police officers told Rwamucyo they were awaiting the Forensic Science
Laboratory (FSL) report to confirm the cause of death. They added that
Eliphahal may have drowned in water after he tried to swim. "Swimming
in the backwaters could be dangerous, especially for foreigners who
don't know the ferocity of the reservoir water. Eliphahal might have
entered the water and drowned," said a police officer.

point qu'il n'a pu rentrer avec ses trois compagnons de voyage.
