[RwandaLibre] Gainjet opens new African operation

A ceux qui s'y connaissent en aviation, n'est-ce pas là les fameux
jets de Kagame qui ont défrayé les manchettes?

Gainjet opens new African operation

Posted by: Terry Spruce May 21, 2014 in News

Gainjet in Athens announced at EBACE 2014 the opening of Gainjet
Africa, based in Kigali, Rwanda, starting in June 2014. The company
will base a 2012-build Gulfstream 550 that can accommodate 14
passengers. The aircraft has a range of 6,750 nautical miles and is
able to fly non-stop from Africa to the US and south-east Asia.

Captain Ramsey Shaban, president of GainJet, said: "There is a lack of
true VIP operators with true VIP aircraft in Africa, especially in the
East and Central African regions. Kigali is a natural aviation hub
which seats at the centre of the continent and the Government of
Rwanda has offered us the right incentives."

"GainJet Africa stands to benefit from the friendly business
environment created in Rwanda. We want to bring to Africa the
excellent service that we have been supplying to both Europe and the
Middle-East for over eight years. And the clientele in the continent
most certainly deserves such service," added Shaban.

GainJet began plans to expand into Africa in 2011 as a founding member
of the African Business Aviation Association (AfBAA).

Shaban added: "One of AfBAA's missions is to establish a unified set
of regulations and create a better environment to operate in across
the whole African continent. We feel AfBAA has made great progress in
this mission, and this is why we believe it is the right time to start
GainJet Africa. It has been our plan for a while, so we have been
preparing for this and are ready."

Gainjet is headquartered in Athens, Greece with an office in London
and operates a mixed fleet of VIP aircraft, from the Boeing 757,
Boeing 737, Gulfstream G450 and G550, Legacy 600, Global Express XRs
and Challenge 604.

We reiterate that Rwanda continues to face allegations of human rights violations that are of an extremely serious nature. These allegations have been found credible by none less than Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and UN panel on human rights. Several well-grounded allegations exist about the extreme lack of fundamental freedoms in Rwanda, which it is charged, has resulted in serio us violation...
