Letter of congratulations to President Jacob Zuma, on the commending victory of ANC in South Africa's general elections.

H.E. President Jacob Zuma

South Africa

His Excellency,

On behalf of the Rwandan political platform FDU – Inkingi, Rwanda National Congress (RNC) and Amahoro People's Congress, we extend sincere congratulations on the landslide victory of ANC in the 7 May 2014 national elections. South Africa has again chosen your party, African National Congress, to preside over its destiny for another term. Your tireless leadership, extraordinary dedication and wisdom have raised immense hope in your country and in the whole Africa during this period of a radically changing continent with enormous challenges. And you were the right person to lead your party to this commanding victory.

Our political platform takes this opportunity to send our best wishes for your strong resolve in performing the important and responsible duties of your position, as well as for long years of prosperity and well-being to South Africa and its people.

We firmly believe that this commending trust given again to ANC and to you by the people of South Africa will be a source of inspiration for full-scale reforms in your country, in the region and especially in the peaceful resolution of conflicts in Africa. We are particularly concerned about the situation in Rwanda worsening with high risks for new internal and regional conflicts.

The political intimidation of the opposition inside Rwanda has taken a new drive with assassinations inside and outside the country. Opposition leaders Madam Victoire Ingabire, Bernard Ntaganda, Deo Mushayidi, Sylvain Sibomana, Dr. Theoneste Niyitegeka and many others are languishing in Prison. The assassination of our colleague, the late Patrick Karegeya in Johannesburg on 31 December 2013, and renewed attempts and manhunt against General Kayumba Nyamwasa in South Africa have again revealed those who believe in violence, murder instead of political dialogue. We hope that no stone will remain unturned until those criminals and theirs masters are brought to book.

May God, who has so blessed South Africa, grant you and all those who serve with you wisdom, strength and compassion.
We wish you every success as you serve your nation and Africa.

For the platform RNC, FDU-INKINGI and AMAHORO People's Congress.
