A SUSPECTED M23 rebel from the Democratic Republic of Congo has been deported to Rwanda by the department of Immigration on grounds that his presence is likely to endanger peace and good order in Zambia. This is according to a statement issued on Tuesday by department of Immigration public relations officer Namati Nshinka.

"Mr Mugisha entered Zambia on December 10, 2013 via Nakonde as an ordinary visitor using a Ugandan passport number B1067496 and was on 28th January, 2014 arrested in Mandevu by a Joint Security Team under the auspices of the Central Joint Operations Committee (CJOC). "He was deported in the early hours of Saturday, 22nd June, 2014 via Kenneth Kaunda International Airport," he said.

Mr Nshinka said Mr Mugisha also goes by a Rwandese name of Mupenzi Jean De la paix"He was deported under a warrant signed by the Minister of Home Affairs on grounds that his presence in Zambia was likely to be a danger to peace and good order," Mr Nshinka said Meanwhile, the department of immigration arrested three Koreans for working without immigration permits.

The trio was arrested at Lamise Investments. In another incident, the department of immigration in Chirundu arrested 13 Ethiopians for unlawful entry into Zambia. Mr Nshinka said the immigrants were arrested in Lusitu area around 21:00 hours after being involved in a road accident. He said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident, carrying the travel documents belonging to the Ethiopians. And 20 suspected illegal immigrants were arrested after an operation carried out in Matero and Kamwala townships in Lusaka.
