U.S. Kampala embassy says won't deny anti-gay supporters visas

The U.S. Embassy in Kampala has distanced itself from SMS messages
claiming it will deny visas to Ugandans who support the tough
Anti-homosexuality law recently signed by President Yoweri Museveni.

"It has been brought to our attention that an unknown party claiming
to be from the U.S. Embassy in Kampala is sending fake SMS messages
alleging that Ugandans will be denied visas if they support the
recently pass Anti-Homosexuality Act. This is false!" said a statement
sent by the U.S. mission Information Assistant, Peter Eriki.

"There has been no change to U.S. visa policy, which is made in strict
accordance to U.S. law. No one will be denied visas based on their
beliefs or views," the statement added.
